Today we are announcing Savings Plans, a new flexible pricing model that allows customers to save up to 72% on Amazon EC2 and AWS Fargate in exchange for making a commitment to a consistent amount of compute usage (e.g. $10/hour) for a 1 or 3 year term. With a Savings Plan, usage up to the commitment will be charged at the discounted Savings Plan rates and any usage beyond the commitment will be charged at regular On Demand rates. Savings Plans offer significant savings over On Demand, just like Reserved Instances, but automatically reduce customers’ bills on compute usage across any AWS region, even as usage changes. This provides customers the flexibility to use the compute option that best suits their needs and continue to save money, all without having to perform exchanges or modifications.

AWS Artifact is now available in the AWS GovCloud (US) Regions, where you’ll now have on-demand access to AWS compliance reports and select online AWS agreements with a single-click in the AWS Management Console .  

Amazon QuickSight announced the release of QuickSight Mobile for iOS and Android devices. This release is both a major update to the existing iOS app and a new Android application. The app enables you to securely get insights from your data from anywhere; browse, favorite, and interact with your dashboards; explore your data with drilldowns and filters; stay ahead of the curve via forecasting; get email alerts when unexpected changes happen in your data; and share those insights with colleagues. Amazon Kinesis Data Firehose is now available in the Middle East (Bahrain) AWS Region. Amazon Kinesis Data Firehose is the easiest way to load streaming data into data stores and analytics tools. You can capture, transform, and load streaming data into Amazon S3, Amazon Redshift, Amazon Elasticsearch Service, and Splunk, enabling near real-time analytics with existing business intelligence tools you are already using.

Elastic Load Balancing now supports TLS termination on Network Load Balancers in AWS GovCloud (US). With this new feature, you can offload the decryption/encryption of TLS traffic from your application servers to the Network Load Balancer, helping you to optimize the performance of your backend servers while keeping your workloads secure. Additionally, Network Load Balancers preserve the source IP of the clients to the back-end applications, while terminating TLS on the load balancer.

The AWS Node Termination Handler makes it easy for customers to take advantage of the cost savings and performance boost offered by EC2 Spot Instances in their Kubernetes clusters while gracefully handling EC2 Spot Instance terminations.  

Amazon Redshift now enables users to add and change sort keys of existing Redshift tables without having to re-create the table. The new capability simplifies user experience in maintaining the optimal sort order in Redshift to achieve high performance as their query patterns evolve and do it without interrupting the access to the tables.

You can now launch Amazon RDS instances for Oracle Database 19c. 

You can now receive notifications about events in repositories, build projects, deployments, and pipelines when you use AWS CodeCommit, AWS CodeBuild, AWS CodeDeploy, and/or AWS CodePipeline. Notifications will come in the form of Amazon SNS notifications. Each notification will include a status message as well as a link to the resources whose event generated that notification.
