You can now debug and monitor your Apache Spark jobs by logging directly into the off-cluster, persistent, Apache Spark History Server using the EMR Console.  

PostgreSQL 12.0 is now available in the Amazon RDS Database Preview Environment, allowing customers to test the initial version of PostgreSQL 12 on Amazon RDS. 

AWS Certificate Manager (ACM) Private Certificate Authority (CA) is now available in the South America (São Paulo) region. This regional expansion extends the availability of ACM PrivateCA across the globe, increasing the number of regions to 20. 

In a single click you can now set all AWS Systems Manager Agents in your fleet to automatically update to the Agents’ latest version. AWS Systems Manager Agent (SSM Agent) is Amazon software that can be installed and configured on an Amazon EC2 instance, an on-premises server, or a virtual machine (VM) to enable AWS Systems Manager to securely connect to, configure, and manage these resources. With the new single-click setting, it is much easier to ensure that all of your SSM Agents automatically have the most recent updates and capabilities. Amazon Comprehend is a natural language processing (NLP) service that uses machine learning to find insights and relationships in text. Starting today, Amazon Comprehend is adding the following six new languages that are highly requested by customers: Chinese (Traditional), Chinese (Simplified), Korean, Hindi, Japanese, and Arabic. These languages expand upon the existing six languages already available in Amazon Comprehend: English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish.

AWS IoT Device Defender is now available in AWS Middle East (Bahrain), extending its footprint to 18 AWS regions. AWS IoT Device Defender is a fully-managed service that makes it easy for customers to manage the end-to-end security of their IoT fleet. 

You can now use AWS Secrets Manager to pass credentials to AWS CodeBuild build jobs. This can be achieved by specifying the secrets directly in your buildspec or as an environment variable in your CodeBuild Project.

Secrets Manager helps you protect secrets needed to access your applications, services, and IT resources. With Secrets Manager, you can rotate, manage, and retrieve database credentials, API keys, and other secrets throughout their lifecycle.

Amazon Transcribe is now available in the Asia Pacific (Hong Kong) and Middle East (Bahrain) Regions. Amazon Transcribe is an automatic speech recognition (ASR) service that makes it easy to add a speech-to-text capability to applications. Organizations can use Amazon Transcribe to create text transcripts of audio and video files quickly. Amazon Transcribe enables organizations to increase the accessibility and discoverability of their audio and video content. The service is useful across a breadth of use cases. Customer contact centers can convert call recordings into text and analyze the data for actionable intelligence. Media content producers can automate subtitling workflows for greater engagement and accessibility. Enterprises and legal firms that have archives of recorded meetings or court proceedings can make those archives accessible and searchable by transcribing them into useful text that’s demarcated by time stamps. Also, marketers and advertisers can enhance content discovery and display more targeted advertising based on the extracted metadata from video files (such as showing a sports shoe ad in the middle of a football match vs. a cooking show). 

Starting today, Amazon EC2 X1e instances are available in the Asia Pacific (Mumbai) AWS region. 

Amazon EC2 G4 instances which provide industry’s most cost-effective GPU platform for deploying machine learning models in production and graphics-intensive applications are now available in the Europe (Stockholm) and South America (São Paulo) AWS regions, bringing the total number of available regions to 17.
