This release of the AWS Deep Learning AMIs support Apache MXNet 1.0 , including a new model serving capability for MXNet that packages, runs, and serves deep learning models with just a few lines of code. Also included are a new gradient compression capability, and a new model converter that converts neural network code written with the Caffe framework to MXNet code, making it easier for developers to take advantage of MXNet’s scalability and performance.
Amazon Aurora with MySQL Compatibility Speeds Query Processing with Hash Join and Batched Scans
Amazon Aurora with MySQL compatibility now supports hash joins to speed up equijoin queries. Aurora’s cost-based optimizer can automatically decide when to use hash joins; you can also force their use in a query plan. In our internal testing, use of hash joins improved the latency of queries in a decision support benchmark when using a cold buffer pool by up to 8.2x on an R3.8xlarge instance.
