Customers in the AWS GovCloud (US-East) region and the AWS Asia Pacific (Hong Kong) region can now use AWS Secrets Manager to manage secrets such as database passwords and API keys needed to access their applications, services, and IT resources.  

Starting today, new Amazon EC2 A1 bare metal instances are available. Similar to all other A1 instances, the new A1 bare metal instances are powered by AWS Graviton Processors that feature 64-bit Arm Neoverse cores and custom silicon designed by AWS.  

Today, AWS Elemental MediaConvert adds support for several new features, including improved video quality with single- and multi-pass HQ (High Quality) encoding for H.264 (AVC), expanded Accelerated Transcoding capabilities, and the On Demand profile for DASH output groups.

The AWS Serverless Application Model (AWS SAM) is a specification that extends AWS CloudFormation to provide a simplified syntax to express functions, APIs, and more. The latest SAM release supports four major updates and other features as detailed in the release notes .

AWS IoT Events is now available in the EU (London), Asia Pacific (Singapore), and Asia Pacific (Seoul) Regions, extending the footprint to 10 AWS regions.

Amazon AppStream 2.0 is now available in the AWS GovCloud (US-West) Region, an isolated AWS Region designed to host sensitive data and regulated workloads in the cloud for customers who have U.S. federal, state, or local government compliance requirements. With this launch, Amazon AppStream 2.0 is now available in nine AWS Regions. For a list of regions where AppStream 2.0 is available, see the AWS Region Table. You can deploy general purpose, compute-optimized, memory-optimized, and graphics-pro streaming instances in the AWS GovCloud (US-West) Region to meet the needs of your users. Graphics-design instances are not available at this time.  

AWS Chatbot now makes it easy to receive notifications from AWS Config in your team’s Slack channels and Amazon Chime chat rooms. You can receive notifications about Config rule compliance or configuration item changes. Receiving notifications in your channels or chat rooms enables your entire team to review and collaborate quickly.

Amazon Inspector expands Center for Internet Security’s CIS Benchmarks support for Windows 2016. You can now run Inspector CIS assessments on Windows 2016 to check the configuration of your Amazon EC2 instances against the security configuration best practices developed by CIS.  

iOS users can now use federated login to authenticate to the AWS Console Mobile Application.

Amazon Simple Queue Service (Amazon SQS) FIFO (First-In-First-Out) queues are now available in the AWS Middle East (Bahrain) Region.
