You can now programmatically create commits that contain changes to multiple files using the AWS Command Line Interface (AWS CLI) or the AWS SDKs. In addition to adding and changing files in AWS CodeCommit through the AWS Management Console or a Git client, some customers prefer to use APIs to manipulate the repository, such as creating an initial commit with the files needed to start a project. Previously, in order to change multiple files in a single commit programmatically, you had to install and configure a Git client. Now you can use the AWS CLI or SDKs to perform this common task without having to install any third-party software.
AWS Well-Architected Tool now supports architecture reviews for On-Premise and Hybrid Cloud workloads
You can now use the AWS Well-Architected Tool to also perform architectural reviews for hybrid cloud workloads as well as workloads which are fully deployed on-premises.
When you define your workload, you now have the option to select both the AWS and the non-AWS Region(s) in which your workload is deployed. This allows you to document whether your workload is fully deployed on AWS, is partially deployed on AWS or running completely on-premises. You can then continue with the Well-Architected review as before.

Use Athena Workgroups to Separate Workloads Between Users or Applications, View Query Metrics, and Enforce Cost Controls
You can now use Amazon Athena Workgroups – A new resource type that can be used to separate query execution and query history between Users, Teams, or Applications running under the same AWS account. Because Workgroups act as resources, you can use resource-based policies to control access to a Workgroup. For example, if you have two teams or different applications using Athena, you can limit access by assigning them to different Workgroups. You can also separate ad hoc usage from scheduled reports by assigning them to different Workgroups. Queries running in one Workgroup are not visible to users or applications running in a different Workgroup. You can also temporarily disable Workgroups, preventing users from running queries, or permanently delete them. Fine-Grained Access Control for Tables and Databases defined in the Glue Data Catalog can further restrict access to specific databases and tables.
Amazon EFS Now Supports Tag-on-Create
You can now tag your Amazon Elastic File System (Amazon EFS) file system resources as they are created. Previously, you could add tags to your file system resources once they were created.
Amazon Kinesis Data Analytics for Java Now Supports AWS CloudFormation
You can now use AWS CloudFormation templates to model and provision Amazon Kinesis Data Analytics for Java applications using version 2 of the Kinesis Data Analytics API. This improvement enables you to use AWS CloudFormation to deploy Kinesis Data Analytics applications in a safe and repeatable manner.

Two Engines Beat Four
It’s a pity because four engines feel safer than two, but that nice warm feeling underlies the demise of the Airbus 380 – which has happened largely as a function of running cost. At $26,000 to $29,000 an hour the four-engined 380 is not competitive with the $2000 per hour of the two-engined Boeing 737-800 …
