Amazon Connect, a self-service, cloud-based contact center, is now HIPAA eligible. If you have an executed Business Associate Agreement (BAA) with Amazon Web Services (AWS), you can now use Amazon Connect to handle contacts containing protected health information (PHI).

Amazon WorkMail now supports sending with aliases. Sending with aliases allows users to send email using an alternative email address. With this feature, users can easily assume different roles when communicating with external parties. The new alias functionality is available in the Amazon WorkMail web application and other supported clients. To use this feature, visit Send as an Alias .

You can now process higher volume streams of data with Amazon Kinesis Analytics applications by increasing parallelism and removing default processing limits.

This Quick Start automates the deployment of Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, a platform as a service (PaaS) solution, on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud. OpenShift Container Platform uses Docker containers, Google Kubernetes orchestration, and the container-optimized Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) operating system to help developers and IT create and deploy their apps.

This new Quick Start automatically deploys a highly available IBM Spectrum Scale cluster with replication on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud, into a configuration of your choice. (A small cluster can be deployed in about 25 minutes.)

Amazon EC2 X1 instances were launched to extend the elasticity, simplicity, and cost savings of the AWS cloud to enterprise-grade applications with the largest dataset requirements for our customers. Today, we are excited to announce the general availability of a new EC2 instance in the X1 family – x1e.32xlarge – to take those benefits further for our customers. x1e.32xlarge offers 3,904 GiB of DDR4 instance memory, the most memory offered by any EC2 instance. This new instance enables customers to run larger in-memory databases, such as SAP HANA, and other memory-intensive and latency sensitive workloads compared to the previously available X1 instances.

Amazon RDS for Oracle now supports multiple Oracle Application Express (APEX) versions, including versions 5.0.4 and 5.1.2 for Oracle Database 12c and 11g. Using APEX, developers can build applications entirely within their web browser.

You can now create and manage lifecycle hooks for Auto Scaling Groups using the AWS management console. Previously, this functionality was only available through the AWS Application Programming Interface (API) , Command Line Interface (CLI) , and AWS CloudFormation . In addition, creating lifecycle hooks is now more convenient as it can be done in the same step as creating your Auto Scaling Group using the ‘CreateAutoScalingGroup’ call through the AWS API and CLI .

AWS CodeBuild now further enhances securing your build environment. CodeBuild can now store sensitive information as secrets, which can now get directly passed to your build jobs. This can be achieved by modifying the parameter store directly in your buildspec.yml, or via the CodeBuild console. The Amazon WorkDocs Activity Feed now allows administrators to track actions on their Amazon WorkDocs site in near real time. This makes it easy for administrators to review file and user activities for legal, regulatory, compliance, or internal inquiries.
