With the latest release of Amazon Athena, you can now run SQL queries on Geospatial data. To use the Geospatial functions in Amazon Athena, your data must be in WKT (Well-known Text) or WKB (Well-known Binary formats). You can use specialized data types such as point, line, polygon, multiline, & multi-polygon and calculate relationships such as distance, crosses, touches, overlaps, & disjoints between geometries.
