AWS Transfer Family web apps are a new resource that you can use to create a simple interface for accessing your data in Amazon S3 through a web browser. With Transfer Family web apps, you can provide your workforce with a fully managed, branded, and secure portal for your end users to browse, upload, and download data in S3.

Transfer Family offers fully managed file transfers over SFTP, FTPS, FTP, and AS2, enabling seamless workload migrations with no need to change your third-party clients or their configurations. Now, you can also enable browser-based transfers for non-technical users in your organization through a user-friendly interface. Transfer Family web apps are integrated with AWS IAM Identity Center and S3 Access Grants , enabling fine-grained access controls that map corporate identities in your existing directories directly to S3 datasets. With a few clicks in the Transfer Family console, you can generate a shareable URL for your web app. Then, your authenticated users can start accessing data you authorize them to access through their web browsers.

AWS announces the general availability of Amazon CloudWatch Database Insights with support for Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL and Amazon Aurora MySQL. Database Insights is a database observability solution that provides a curated experience designed for DevOps engineers, application developers, and database administrators (DBAs) to expedite database troubleshooting and gain a holistic view into their database fleet health.

Database Insights consolidates logs and metrics from your applications, your databases, and the operating systems on which they run into a unified view in the console. Using its pre-built dashboards, recommended alarms, and automated telemetry collection, you can monitor the health of your database fleets and use a guided troubleshooting experience to drill down to individual instances for root-cause analysis. Application developers can correlate the impact of database dependencies with the performance and availability of their business-critical applications. This is because they can drill down from the context of their application performance view in Amazon CloudWatch Application Signals to the specific dependent database in Database Insights.

You can get started with Database Insights by enabling it on your Aurora clusters using the Aurora service console, AWS APIs, and SDKs. Database Insights delivers database health monitoring aggregated at the fleet level, as well as instance-level dashboards for detailed database and SQL query analysis.

AWS Database Migration Service (AWS DMS) Schema Conversion with generative AI is now available. The feature is currently available for database schema conversion from commercial engines, such as Microsoft SQL Server, to Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL-Compatible Edition and Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) for PostgreSQL.

Using generative AI recommendations, you can simplify and accelerate your database migration projects, particularly when converting complex code objects which typically require manual conversion, such as stored procedures, functions, or triggers. AWS DMS Schema Conversion with generative AI converts up to 90% of your schema.

AWS DMS Schema Conversion with generative AI is currently available in three AWS Regions : US East (N. Virginia), US West (Oregon), and Europe (Frankfurt).

You can use this feature in the AWS Management Console or AWS Command Line Interface (AWS CLI) by selecting a commercial database such as Microsoft SQL Server as your source database and Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL or Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL as your target when initiating a schema conversion project. Today at re:Invent, AWS announced Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS) Auto Mode, a new feature that fully automates compute, storage, and networking management for Kubernetes clusters. Amazon EKS Auto Mode simplifies running Kubernetes by offloading cluster operations to AWS, improves the performance and security of your applications, and helps optimize compute costs. 

You can use EKS Auto Mode to get Kubernetes conformant managed compute, networking, and storage for any new or existing EKS cluster. This makes it easier for you to leverage the security, scalability, availability, and efficiency of AWS for your Kubernetes applications. EKS Auto Mode removes the need for deep expertise, ongoing infrastructure management, or capacity planning by automatically selecting the best EC2 instances to run your application. It helps optimize compute costs while maintaining application availability by dynamically scaling EC2 instances based on demand. EKS Auto Mode provisions, operates, secures, and upgrades EC2 instances within your account using AWS-controlled access and lifecycle management. It handles OS patches and updates and limits security risks with ephemeral compute, which strengthens your security posture by default.

EKS Auto Mode is available today in all AWS Regions , except AWS GovCloud (US) and China Regions. You can enable EKS Auto Mode in any EKS cluster running Kubernetes 1.29 and above with no upfront fees or commitments—you pay for the management of the compute resources provisioned, in addition to your regular EC2 costs. 

To get started with EKS Auto Mode, use the EKS API, AWS Console, or your favorite infrastructure as code tooling to enable it in a new or existing EKS cluster. You can now use the Amazon S3 Express One Zone and S3 One Zone-Infrequent Access storage classes in AWS Dedicated Local Zones. Dedicated Local Zones are a type of AWS infrastructure that is fully managed by AWS, built for exclusive use by you or your community, and placed in a location or data center specified by you to help you comply with regulatory requirements.

Amazon Web Services announces a new integrated analytics experience and zero-ETL integration between Amazon CloudWatch and Amazon OpenSearch Service for customers to get the best of both services. CloudWatch customers can now leverage OpenSearch’s Piped Processing Language (PPL) and OpenSearch SQL. Additionally, CloudWatch customers can accelerate troubleshooting with out-of-the-box curated dashboards for vended logs like Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), AWS CloudTrail, and AWS WAF. OpenSearch customers can now analyze CloudWatch Logs without having to duplicate data.

With this integration, CloudWatch Logs customers have two more query languages for log analytics, in addition to CloudWatch Logs Insights QL. Customers can use SQL to analyze data, correlate logs using JOIN, sub-queries, and use SQL functions, namely, JSON, mathematical, datetime, and string functions for intuitive log analytics. They can also use the OpenSearch PPL to filter, aggregate and analyze their data. With a few clicks, CloudWatch Logs customers can create OpenSearch dashboards for VPC, WAF, and CloudTrail logs to monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot using visualizations derived from the logs. OpenSearch customers no longer have to copy logs from CloudWatch for analysis, or create ETL pipelines. Now, they can use OpenSearch Discover to analyze CloudWatch logs in-place, and build indexes and dashboards on CloudWatch Logs.

Amazon Web Services is announcing general availability for next generation high density Storage Optimized I7ie instances. Designed for large storage I/O intensive workloads, I7ie instances are powered by 5th generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors with an all-core turbo frequency of 3.2 GHz, offering up to 40% better compute performance and 20% better price performance over existing I3en instances. I7ie instances have the highest local NVMe storage density in the cloud for storage optimized instances and offer up to twice as many vCPUs and memory compared to prior generation instances. Powered by 3rd generation AWS Nitro SSDs, I7ie instances deliver up to 65% better real-time storage performance, up to 50% lower storage I/O latency, and 65% lower storage I/O latency variability compared to I3en instances.

I7ie are high density storage optimized instances, ideal for workloads requiring fast local storage with high random read/write performance at very low latency consistency to access large data sets. I7ie instances also deliver 40% better compute performance to run more complex queries without increasing the storage density per vCPU. Additionally, the 16KB torn write prevention feature, enables customers to eliminate performance bottlenecks.

I7ie instances deliver up to 100Gbps of network bandwidth and 60Gbps of bandwidth for Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS).
