The AWS Solutions team recently updated Serverless Image Handler, a solution that combines highly available, trusted AWS services and the open source image processing suite Sharp to enable fast and cost-effective image manipulation on the AWS Cloud. The solution provides a demo user interface for image manipulation that allows you to interact directly with your image handler API endpoint using image files in your account. It also features an image request option that allows you to crop images using the facial recognition capabilities of Amazon Rekognition.

AWS Elemental MediaConvert is now available in the Europe (Stockholm) region.

Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS) now supports increased ECS task limits for select Amazon EC2 instances when using awsvpc task networking mode. When you use these instance types and opt in to the awsvpcTrunking account setting, additional Elastic Network Interfaces (ENIs) are available for tasks using awsvpc networking mode on newly launched container instances.

Today, Amazon AppStream 2.0 released three self-guided workshops that help software vendors build online software trials and software as a service (SaaS) solutions for their desktop applications, without rewriting them. You can now assign custom attributes, or tags, to the AWS accounts you manage with AWS Organizations. The ability to attach tags such as owner name, project, business group, cost center, environment, and other values directly to your AWS accounts makes it easier for the people in your organization to get information on particular AWS accounts without having to refer to a separate spreadsheet or other out-of-band method for tracking your AWS accounts.

AWS Organizations helps you centrally govern your environment as you grow and scale your workloads on AWS. Using AWS Organizations, you can automate account creation, create groups of accounts to reflect your business needs, and apply policies for these groups for governance. You can also simplify billing by setting up a single payment method for all of your AWS accounts.

Starting today, when migrating to Amazon RDS for SQL Server, you can now restore a multi-file native SQL Server backup from S3 to an Amazon RDS SQL Server database instance. 

Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS) now supports running Windows Server 2019 containers. Amazon ECS provides an ECS-Optimized Windows Server Amazon Machine Image (AMI), which is based on the EC2 Windows Server 2019 AMI and includes Docker 18.09 and the ECS Agent 1.27. 

Amazon DocumentDB (with MongoDB compatibility is now available in the Asia Pacific (Sydney) region with R5 instances, the next generation of memory-optimized instances.

You can now use AWS CloudFormation templates to specify Amazon Pinpoint resources. This improvement enables you to use CloudFormation to deploy Amazon Pinpoint resources—along with the rest of your AWS infrastructure—in a secure, efficient, and repeatable way. You can use CloudFormation templates to specify Amazon Pinpoint projects, segments, campaigns, and communication channels.

Amazon Elastic File System (Amazon EFS) is now available in the AWS Asia Pacific (Mumbai) region.
