38 years ago a company was founded to make chips using ECL The company’s first product was a floating point coprocessor chip set and that was followed by a SPARC processor. It then made ATM devices and Ethernet switches. It lasted 13 years and was then sold to PMC-Sierra. Moral: Speed isn’t everything
